Year Four

Our next unit of topic in science is ‘Animals including Humans’. In this topic, we will look at what happens to the food we eat by exploring the role of the digestive system. We will:

  • describe the simple functions of the basic parts of the digestive system in humans
  • identify the different types of teeth in humans and their simple functions
  • construct and interpret a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey.

Below is the knowledge mat for this topic.

In our Topic lessons, we have now finished learning about rivers and are moving onto our next Topic, which is Ancient Egypt.  We will look at where Egypt is located in the world, explore the pyramids and pharoahs and we will even find out about the mummification process.  I have added a link to a knowledge map with some useful Ancient Egypt vocabulary and interesting facts.  I hope you really enjoy learning about our new topic.

In our Topic lessons, we are going to start by learning about rivers.  We will look how they are formed, the key features and what ends up happening to all that water!  Do you know what is the longest river in the world? I have added a knowledge map with some useful river vocabulary that we will be using in class.  I hope you really enjoy learning about rivers.

In Science, we are going to be learning all about the States of Matter.  Do you know what happens to a solid when it is heated or how a liquid changes when it is cooled?  We will be melting chocolate as part of a Science experiment into States of Matter.  I am sure you will have great fun.
