Year 3
Welcome to Year 3! Take a look below to find out what we will be learning about this half term and our routines.
Autumn 1
Homework
Homework will be sent out every Friday and is to be returned the following Monday. It will include weekly spellings and things we have learnt throughout the week.
Each child also has a login for; Spelling Shed, TT Rockstars and Reading Plus. We ask that, where possible, children access these 2-3 times a week as an extra piece of their homework. Any time spent on these apps will benefit learning. They can be accessed online through webpages or are downloadable as apps. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you have lost your log-in details.
Reading Books
Reading books are to be returned every Monday morning and will go back out as soon as these have been changed. Don't forget to sign the reading record each time your child has read to you.
PE
PE is on a Wednesday afternoon. Please send your children in full PE kit on this day.
Maths
This half term we are learning about Place Value, Addition and Subtraction. Have a look at the knowledge mats to understand what your children will be learning this half term.
English
Our English lessons this half term are all linked to our History unit - 'What was life like in prehistoric Britain?' We will be reading a range of books before creating an extended piece of writing linked to each one. Take a look at the books we will be delving into below.
Guided Reading
In Guided Reading lessons, we will continue to use Reading Plus or Reading Eggs three times a week. These online Reading schemes should also be accessed by your child from home as part of their weekly homework. If you do not have your child's login, please contact the class teacher, who will be happy to provide the relevant details.
RE
In RE this half term, we will be learning about The Christian Family.
Science
In science, we are learning about Rocks and Soils.
History
In History we will be learning about what life was like in prehistoric Britain, dating back to the Stone Age. During this unit we will delving into Catholic Social Teaching and thinking about what early settlements mean for our way of life today.
