Reading Blog

At St Columba’s we strive to develop listening skills, a love of story and reading for pleasure.  We provide children with a wide range of reading opportunities. Our fundamental reading Scheme is Oxford reading Tree and we teach synthetic phonics based on ‘Letters and Sounds’.  This Scheme is supported by a wide range of books using a variety of strategies with support at home from parents.

Here is a book review from a Year 5 child who thoroughly enjoyed the high quality text they were reading in their Guided Reading sessions
